The CPD Verification Service works across all business sectors providing independent accreditation of CPD. With a team of experts in the assessment of CPD and its standards, we are able to provide support to organisations that want to ensure they meet the professional requirements of CPD accreditation. Because we verify CPD independently, organisations that use us can be confident that learners have achieved CPD through impartial means.
MEET THE PANEL
Our panel has been built to support you in your journey, with a varied background from the business worlds of Director in Local Government, Education specialist, learning and development to Charity Board member.
DR John Beer - OBE – since retiring from full time paid work John has focused on mentoring and on Chairing the Boards of two charities.
John’s has had a long and distinguished career In a social care which after 40 years of Local Government service, led to the role in which he retired, Director of Health and Social Care for Southampton City Council. Managing 1500 staff, and budgets of hundreds of millions of pounds he delivered on target for 13 years as Director.
In John’s role in the Council, he also lead on a number of strategic priorities including anti-poverty, crime, drug and alcohol reduction and partnership with the NHS. He has been very active in his professional association (ADSS and then ADASS) being both Treasurer and then Secretary. Through this, he had frequent contact with Senior Civil Servants and Cabinet Ministers and influenced policy at the highest level.
Learning and development has played a key part of John’s career. He has a Diploma in Management Studies and very wide experience of complex management issues and strategic development. He also took a keen interest in mentoring, particularly women and ethnic minority staff whose careers had stalled, often through prejudice. He is strongly motivated by the quest for equality and justice.
Upon retirement, John’s contribution to the City was recognised by the awarding of an OBE.
Since retiring from full time paid work John has continued mentoring and taken up involvement with a number of charitable organisations. He is currently Chair of a charity that promotes independence for young disabled adults with an interest in the performing arts and also Chair of Action on Elder Abuse, a charity that aims to reduce and ameliorate such abuse in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. John sees accreditation and verification as an opportunity for all to be provided with the recognition they deserve for their achievements.
Caroline Goulton – Educational expert, covering head of department, exam moderator and Dyslexia Action
Caroline is a teacher and literacy specialist with over 17 years’ experience in the field of education. Her career started as a Geography Teacher and this role progressed to Head of Department. Caroline has also been an examination and courseware marker for over 17 years.
In addition to her teaching role, Caroline is a literacy specialist and founded her own business that assesses for Dyslexia and Dyscalculia. She is qualified with AMBDA and APC and is able to complete full diagnostic assessments for literacy and mathematics difficulties. She has worked on a part time basis for Dyslexia Action and has undertaken a number of talks for the Hampshire Dyslexia Family Support Group.
Caroline is a meticulous planner, and her dedication to detail is first-rate. She has a thorough understanding of CPD within the education sector and a passion for enabling people to succeed.

Neal Dix – Learning & Development specialist, experienced in all aspects from accreditation to business partnering
Neal is a Learning and Development professional with over 18 years’ experience. His career has grown from grass roots trainer and progressed into consultancy, design, and business partnering.
Neal’s senior roles have seen him manage large teams with a responsibility for over 32,000 employee’s development needs. He is qualified in D32/33 NVQ assessing, dimensions and elements testing with results feedback, as well as ILM level 5 coaching and mentoring. This academic experience has been bolstered by his ability to apply the skills and knowledge across all levels of business, working with senior stakeholders to meet organisational demands. Neal is fully versed in all aspects of accreditation, taking the lead in design, submissions, then through to internal and external verification processes.
This experience places Neal in a unique position of being able to support organisations wishing to become CPD accredited. He understands CPD from both an academic and business perspective. With Neal, learning is a real passion and he can help your organisation professionalise people development through effective CPD provision.
